CURATOR'S TIP: Václav Radimský is considered one of the most important Czech landscape painters and the leading representative of Czech Impressionism. Having studied in Munich and later worked in France, he absorbed the principles of Impressionist painting directly from the artistic environment associated with Giverny and Claude Monet. The present work, created in 1935, is an excellent example of his mature style, distinguished by its luminous atmosphere, subtle colour harmonies and masterful rendering of reflected light. The composition depicts a tranquil waterscape with a distant shoreline, where shimmering reflections create a vivid interplay of pastel blues, greens, pinks and warm earth tones. Radimský’s remarkable ability to capture fleeting light conditions transforms an ordinary landscape into a poetic celebration of nature. Executed in oil on board, the painting bears the artist’s signature. Authenticity has been confirmed by PhDr. Zachař and the expert report accompanies the artwork.
