Andrej Bělocvětov portrays his close friend Josef Sudek in a highly expressive and deeply personal interpretation. The painting combines strong psychological impact, rich impasto technique and exceptional cultural significance. Josef Sudek was one of the most important European photographers of the twentieth century and one of Bělocvětov’s closest lifelong friends. Works directly connected with Sudek appear only rarely on the art market. Provenance: inherited from an extensive private Prague collection. Signed upper right “Bělocvětov”.
