The composition masterfully utilizes visual contrast—the heavy, inky-black silhouette of the perched crow stands out sharply against the delicate, pale pink petals of the blooming spring cherry blossoms. The muted background perfectly evokes a serene, almost melancholic nocturnal atmosphere. The present impression was distributed in the 1930s by the Shima Art Co., which specialized in exporting high-quality Japanese woodblocks to Western collectors during the interwar period. It is a stunning example of Japanese nature lyricism presented in a modern export format.
