2009, pigment on paper Adriena Šimotová (1926–2014) is the doyenne of Czech art in the second half of the 20th century. During the totalitarian regime, she moved in the sphere of unofficial art. She devoted herself to drawing, painting, and sculpture, and her central theme was man and his fate. She often worked with fine pigments, and her figurative motifs were created with delicate touches or by tearing and rolling the paper. She has always been an important mentor to younger artists. Her works are represented in important collections in the Czech Republic and abroad, and her works are in high demand on the Czech art market. The artist's late works reflect her specific style of working from a wheelchair with special sticks with fabric-covered ends.
